Why buy a Galaxy S21 Plus when you could get a Galaxy S21 or the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which has everything? It's a good question with an obvious answer: buy the S21 Plus if you want a phone with a bigger screen and battery than the Galaxy S21, but don't need all the bells and whistles of the Ultra (mainly photographic).
The Galaxy S21 Plus is in an awkward position, with the extra money you pay for the 'standard' S21, you don't get much more than a bigger screen and a more powerful battery. Samsung has now established the Ultra versions of its Galaxy S flagships as the devices to buy if you want the latest and greatest technology the Korean electronics giant has to offer.
And, as bizarre as it may sound, the Galaxy S21 Plus actually has lower specifications than last year's Galaxy S20 Plus. Although the 6.7-inch screen here is larger than the 6.2-inch screen on the S21, it no longer has QHD+ resolution, as Samsung has switched to Full HD+ for both this and the S21.
However, we found that this is not a major problem, as the larger resolution is not very apparent on such large screens. This phone still has an excellent, bright AMOLED screen with a smart dynamic refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 series also lacks microSD card functionality, which may deter users who appreciate the ability to expand their phone's internal capacity.
In terms of photography, nothing has changed since last year, but that's no problem if you are upgrading from an older phone than the Galaxy S20 series. You get a 12MP ultra-wide-angle and primary camera, as well as a 64MP zoom lens.
