A battery slowly loses capacity. You don't notice it from one day to the next, but at some point you notice it every day. This is what we hear most often:
Check for yourself
- You can't make it to the end of the day anymore without charging in between
- The device shuts down while there's still 20 or 30% on the meter
- Everything feels slower: iOS throttles performance to protect a weak battery
- You get the 'Service battery' or 'Maintenance recommended' message
- Check in Settings, Battery, Battery Health: if maximum capacity is below 80%, Apple itself recommends replacement

Do watch out for this
- Is your screen or back panel suddenly bulging slightly? The battery may be swollen. Don't keep using the device like that and have it checked quickly.
- Don't tamper with the battery yourself: a damaged battery can become dangerous.
