Polishing is not the same as repairing a crack. A crack is really a scratch that runs all the way through the glass, and you can’t polish that away. Surface scratches, hairline scratches from a bunch of keys, a deep scrape from a fall on tiles: we polish them all away, no matter how deep or stubborn the scratch is. After the treatment, the glass of your Apple Watch is smooth and clear again, just like when it was new.

How polishing works
Polishing is precision work on the surface of the glass. We grind away a wafer-thin layer from the top of the screen, together with the scratch in it. Then we apply a new oleophobic coating, the layer that makes grease and fingerprints slide off the glass instead of sticking to it.
How long it takes depends on how deep the scratches are: allow half an hour to an hour and a half. For light scratches, it’s often done while you wait in the store.
Sapphire crystal: almost scratch-free
The stainless steel Apple Watch models come with sapphire crystal as standard. That material is so hard that it rarely gets scratched. If it does happen, polishing is usually enough to make it flawless again.
Do you have an aluminium model? Then on request we can fit sapphire crystal when we replace the screen. From then on, the glass hardly scratches at all.

No. A crack runs all the way through the glass, and you will keep seeing it no matter how much you polish. For a crack, screen replacement is the right solution, not polishing.
