Google Pixel camera glass replacement

Crack or scratch in the camera glass of your Google Pixel? Usually it's not too bad. The glass in the camera bar absorbs the impact; the lenses and sensors underneath often stay intact in a fall. In that case, we replace just the glass: faster and more affordable than a full camera module.

Don't wait too long, though. Dust and moisture get in through a crack, and then the whole module ends up being needed after all. Below you'll see how to tell the difference and exactly what we do.

Choose your model

Check your camera glass yourself

Watch for these signs

  • Cracks or a spiderweb pattern in the glass, clearly visible in angled light
  • Scratches or hazy spots that give photos a blur against backlight
  • The same mark on every photo, always in the same spot
  • A colored glow or ring around lights in the dark
  • Glass that feels loose or sunken when you run a fingernail over it
  • Condensation behind the lens after rain or in a humid space

Are your photos still sharp and free of marks? Then the damage is usually limited to the glass and your original camera is still fine. Blurry corners, an autofocus that keeps hunting, or odd colors point to the module itself. That's why we always check first: we take test photos and tell you honestly what's needed.

We only replace what's broken

Many repair services fit a complete module for any camera damage, even when only the glass is cracked. Easy for them, expensive for you. We only replace what's necessary.

The protective glass on a Pixel is a separate part that sits on top of the module, in the camera bar. We warm the damaged glass, lift it off without touching the lenses, remove adhesive residue and glass splinters, and bond the new glass snugly into the bar.

The layout differs per model. A standard Pixel, like the Pixel 9, has a main lens and an ultra-wide lens under the glass. On the Pro models there's also a telephoto lens, which sticks out further and often takes the first hit on the edge in a fall. On the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series, the glass runs as a single strip across the whole camera bar. If one lens opening is damaged, we replace the strip in one go.

How the repair works at FIXNOW

1

Diagnosis

We examine the camera and take test photos. This shows whether it's limited to the glass and whether dust or moisture has already gotten inside.

2

Disassembly

We warm the glass until the adhesive releases and lift it off without touching the sensor or lenses.

3

Fitting new glass

We remove old adhesive and splinters, clean the edge, and bond a new, matching glass in place so the camera bar is sealed again.

4

Checking the sensor area

If there was already dirt or condensation behind the old glass, we also clean the area above the sensor. Otherwise the same mark comes back under the new glass.

5

Testing

We photograph and film in different lighting. On a Pro model we test each lens separately before you get your Pixel back.

Don't leave a crack too long

Why acting fast pays off

  • Dust and moisture get in behind the lens through a crack
  • Condensation causes marks that show up on every photo
  • Dirt in the crack can scratch the lens itself
  • The longer you wait, the higher the chance the whole module needs replacing

How to prevent new damage

The best protection is a case with a raised edge around the camera bar. That edge absorbs the impact when your Pixel falls or lands flat on a table. Also, don't lay the device down with the camera on a rough surface; that causes exactly the fine scratches that make your photos dull.

Do you take a lot of photos at the beach, by the pool, or in the rain? A separate lens protector on the camera bar catches sand and splashes. Clean it only with a soft, dry cloth.
