iPad camera glass replacement

Blurry photos with the rear camera, or smudges whenever you shoot into the light? Usually the camera itself isn't broken — it's the protective glass in front of it. At FIXNOW we then replace only that glass; the lens and the sensor underneath stay exactly where they are.

We do this in Antwerp and Wolvertem, usually while you wait. Below you can see how to recognize cracked glass and how the replacement works.

Choose your model

Does this sound familiar?

Check this yourself before you come by

  • A crack, a spider-web of hairline cracks, or a dull spot on the back, around the lens
  • Photos with the rear camera are blurry, while the front camera stays sharp
  • Shooting toward a light source causes glare or a milky haze
  • Sharpness suddenly dropped, usually right after a fall
  • Fine sand scratches barely stand out, but every photo looks just a bit dirtier

Test it yourself: take a photo with the front camera. Is it sharp, while the rear camera shows haze or smudges? Then the problem is almost certainly in the glass, not the module.

Not always the glass

Does the image stay blurry even though the glass is intact and clean? Does the camera stay black, or does the app keep crashing? That points more toward the module or software. Sometimes there's simply dust behind the lens glass, and a thorough cleaning already solves it. We check that first, before replacing anything that wouldn't fix the issue.

With moisture damage, we make no promises upfront

  • Has your iPad been wet and do you see condensation behind the camera glass? Then we first find out exactly what's been damaged.
  • Only after that will you hear whether a repair makes sense.

How the replacement works at FIXNOW

1

Diagnosis

We inspect the glass, take test photos, and check that the lens and sensor are intact. Only then do we continue.

2

Removing the glass

We gently heat the camera bump to loosen the adhesive. The cracked glass comes out without putting pressure on the lens.

3

Cleaning

Every glass splinter and speck of dust comes out of the opening. A leftover grain would otherwise show up in every photo.

4

Fitting the new glass

Precisely aligned and resealed, so no dust or moisture can reach the lens again.

5

Testing the way you actually shoot

Photo, video, focus, flash where applicable. On Pro models we also switch between the wide-angle and ultra-wide lens.

Your iPad doesn't need to be wiped or reset for this; your data simply stays as it is. Almost every model with a rear camera qualifies, from the standard iPad to the iPad Pro with dual lens.

Keeping the new glass intact

Prevent a new crack

  • Choose a case with a raised edge around the camera. The camera bump sticks out and would otherwise rest directly on a table or the ground.
  • Give your iPad its own compartment or sleeve in your bag, away from keys and sand.
  • Avoid big temperature swings, like going from a hot car into freezing cold. Tempered glass doesn't handle that well.

Choosing your model
