Xbox controller repair

Your Xbox controller drifts to the left while you're standing still, or the bumper no longer responds the way it used to. Familiar: the more you play, the faster the sticks and buttons wear out. Annoying, but rarely a reason to buy a new controller.

At FIXNOW in Antwerp and Wolvertem, we first find out exactly what's going on. We run a diagnosis and discuss the price for your model, so you know where you stand before we start. The price per model is on this page.

Choose your model

Does this sound familiar?

  • Your character or the camera moves on its own, even when you let go of the stick (stick drift)
  • You have to push harder on the bumpers or triggers before anything happens
  • The controller shuts off out of nowhere while playing
  • Buttons respond slowly or sometimes not at all

What you can try yourself first

  • Replace the batteries or fully charge the battery pack: a controller that shuts off sometimes simply has no power left
  • Disconnect the controller from your console and reconnect it
  • Check that nothing is stuck around the sticks or under the bumpers
  • If possible, test the controller on another console, so you know whether the problem is in the controller itself

How FIXNOW handles it

1

Diagnosis

We test the sticks, bumpers, triggers, and the power supply separately. That way we know whether it's wear or something else at play.

2

Repair

We replace worn sticks. Bumpers and triggers that can no longer handle intensive use are also addressed specifically, part by part.

3

Testing

After the repair we thoroughly test all sticks and buttons for drift and response. That way you get the controller back in the condition you expect.

Why sticks and bumpers wear out

Stick drift and worn bumpers usually result from intensive use: the small internal components take a lot of strain during every play session. It's not down to your particular unit — sooner or later it happens to every heavily used controller. The good news: these are exactly the parts we can replace.

Frequently asked questions

Can stick drift always be fixed?

Usually, yes: the sticks are replaceable. We first check how far the wear has progressed and which approach works best for your controller.

My controller shuts off out of nowhere. Is that always a defect?

No, often it's just dead batteries or an empty battery pack. Test that yourself first. If the problem keeps coming back, we'll take a closer look.

Does FIXNOW work with all Xbox controllers?

Xbox controllers run on AA batteries or a battery pack; either one can be brought in to Antwerp or Wolvertem. We then check what's possible for your model.

How long does a controller repair take?

That depends on the defect. Simple repairs are often ready while you wait. After the diagnosis we let you know right away where you stand.

My bumpers feel loose but still work. Should I come in?

Feel free to have them checked. Loose or slow bumpers are usually an early sign of wear and rarely get better on their own.
