No. On the iPhone 8, we always replace the screen as a complete module, even if only the glass is cracked and the image and touch control still work normally. We install the new screen with OCA tape of pressed adhesive, for a clear image and a responsive touchscreen.
If the image no longer works, or you see spots or lines, the complete screen of your iPhone 8 also needs replacing.
