MacBook logic board repair
Your MacBook won't start up anymore, the screen stays black while the fans are spinning, or the device just shuts off on its own? Then the problem is often on the logic board: the board where the processor, memory and all connections come together.
At FIXNOW we repair that at component level, with microsoldering. We replace the broken chip or connector, not the whole board right away. That saves a lot on cost, and in many cases your data simply stays intact.

These complaints point to the logic board
- Screen stays black, but you do hear the startup chime or the fans
- Stage light effect at the bottom of the screen (flexgate, known on MacBook Pro 2016-2018)
- Charger isn't recognized, even with a different cable or adapter
- Sound cuts out or crackles while macOS reports nothing
- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drop out together after a fall or after moisture
- Device restarts on its own as soon as you put it under heavy load
Not every complaint means a broken board. Sometimes a loose connector or a worn battery is the real culprit. The measurement shows it, not guesswork.
How we work
In four steps. After step two, you decide whether we continue.
Diagnosis on the test bench
We open your MacBook, take out the board, put it under the microscope and measure circuit by circuit where the fault is. With moisture damage we look for corrosion.
Clear explanation upfront
You'll hear what we found and what the repair involves. Only once you agree do we start.
Repair at component level
We replace the faulty chip or connector with microsoldering. With water damage we first clean the board ultrasonically and remove all corrosion.
Testing under load
Starting up alone doesn't tell you anything. We test display, sound, charging, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, keyboard and trackpad, and run the board under full load.
Water damage: no promises upfront
- Moisture and corrosion can sit in one spot, or be spread over ten
- Only once the board lies open on the workbench do we see how far the damage reaches
- Sometimes a small intervention is enough, sometimes we honestly advise against the repair
- Device got wet? Switch it off immediately, stop charging it, and bring it in as soon as possible
Why repairing often makes more sense than replacing
A logic board has hundreds of components. A short circuit or a hard knock rarely takes out more than one circuit. We then replace just that one chip, not the entire board. That's considerably cheaper than a new board or a new device.
There's something else at play too. On MacBooks with Apple Silicon, the storage is soldered directly onto the logic board: your photos and documents literally live on it. Repairing at component level leaves that data intact; a complete new board means losing everything. A backup beforehand is always a smart move regardless.
Parts and how to prevent it happening again
We use original parts wherever Apple sells them separately. Chips and connectors that Apple doesn't sell individually, we replace with components that match the original specifications exactly.
How to prevent another logic board repair
- Keep drinks away from your MacBook — still the number one cause in our workshop
- Make sure there's free airflow: working on a duvet or sofa makes the device too hot
- With moisture every minute counts: the shorter it sits on the board, the smaller the damage
Choose your model above
This applies to all generations, from the older Intel models to the newest MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon. Choose your model in the list above: you'll find the price per model there.
