Can you hear the fan of your Steam Deck LCD roaring, or does the device get very warm? Dust in the cooling system is a common cause, which we resolve with a thorough cleaning. If a thumbstick starts to drift, you can choose between one new stick or TMR sticks, which wear out more slowly. If you are short on storage, we install a larger SSD, including on the version with eMMC storage.

When a Steam Deck LCD starts to act up
The Steam Deck LCD has an LCD screen and thumbsticks built as separate modules. The storage can be expanded.
- The screen shows streaks or stays black
- The handheld no longer starts up, not even on the charger
- Charging cuts out as soon as the cable moves
- A grinding sound from the fan
- A stick registers input while you are not touching it
- Almost nothing fits on the internal storage any more
Steam Deck LCD: installing an SSD and replacing the screen
If you want more storage, FIXNOW installs an SSD. That is also possible if your Steam Deck LCD has the small eMMC storage.
If the LCD is cracked or stays dark, we replace the screen with an LCD screen that belongs to this version. We also replace a battery that drains quickly.
The USB-C port is soldered to the motherboard, so we replace that by micro-soldering too. If charging still cuts out after that, we look for the cause in the charging chip.
Cooling and sticks of the Steam Deck LCD
If you hear the fan grinding, we replace it or clean the cooling system together with the thermal interface. We replace the thumbstick modules separately, and replacing both sticks with TMR sticks is possible too. We also repair buttons that stick.
If liquid got into the handheld, we examine the motherboard; repair then depends on the damage. You hear the price before we open the handheld. We do this repair in Antwerp and Wolvertem; you may also send it in.
