Apple Watch alarm not going off: what you can do

Last updated: 10 July 2026Reading time: 3 min

The alarm on your Apple Watch doesn't go off, even though you did set it. Frustrating, especially if you're counting on waking up on time. Usually the issue lies in a setting, not in the device itself.

Why the alarm doesn't go off

Three causes come up most often. The alarm is only set for certain days and so stays silent on weekends. Siri confirmed the alarm but didn't actually activate it. Or an existing alarm has become corrupted and no longer works reliably, even though it still appears in the list.

What you can try yourself

  1. Check the set days. Open the Clock app on your iPhone and tap Alarms. Check whether the alarm is set for all the days you want, not just weekdays.
  2. Reset the Siri settings. Did something go wrong via Siri? Go to Settings on your Apple Watch, open the Siri menu and turn off "Listen for 'Hey Siri'". Restart your Apple Watch completely, then switch the toggle back on. Set the alarm again and test it during the day, so you'll notice right away if it goes wrong.
  3. Delete the alarms and set them up again. Open the Clock app, tap Alarms, swipe left on the alarm and tap Delete. Do this for all alarms and then rebuild them from scratch.

When it's down to the device

If the alarm stays silent after these steps, that points to the software or hardware of your Apple Watch rather than an incorrect setting. A restart doesn't always fix that. FIXNOW checks your Apple Watch in Antwerp or Wolvertem and works with a fixed price per model, so you know where you stand upfront. Live further away? You can mail in the device.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't the alarm on your Apple Watch go off?

Usually because of a setting: the alarm is only turned on for certain days, or Siri didn't actually activate it. Sometimes an existing alarm no longer functions properly. Work through the three steps above, in that order.

How do you set an alarm on the Apple Watch?

You can do this directly via the Alarms app on your Apple Watch, via the Clock app on your paired iPhone, or with your voice via Siri. After setting it, check which days the alarm applies to, otherwise it will stay silent on weekends.

Could a faulty Apple Watch be the cause?

Yes. If alarms consistently fail to go off after you've checked and reset the settings, that can point to a software problem or a hardware fault. In that case, have the device checked instead of repeatedly trying again.

Usually it's a setting you can fix in no time. If your Apple Watch keeps giving you trouble anyway, FIXNOW is happy to take a look with you.
