When the original Switch lets you down
The first Switch has an LCD screen with a separate touch layer and uses a dock for the TV. Both can cause problems.
- A crack in the glass, while the screen underneath still displays fine
- The screen no longer responds to your finger
- After using a third-party dock or charger, the console no longer charges
- The console does not turn on, even after a long time on the charger
- The TV picture stays black, although the console’s own screen works
- A buzzing or rattling fan
Touch glass only, or the whole screen?
On the Switch, the touch glass is a separate layer above the LCD. If the picture still works but the glass is cracked or touch no longer responds, we replace only the glass. If the LCD is damaged too, we fit a new screen.

Charging chip and TV picture on the Switch
A typical motherboard fault: the console does not charge or no longer starts after being connected to a third-party dock or charger. In that case FIXNOW looks at the charging chip on the motherboard and replaces it by micro-soldering if it turns out to be defective.
If the TV stays black as soon as you put the Switch in the dock, the cause can also be a chip on the console’s motherboard. We replace a loud fan. If there is a lot of dust inside the housing, a cleaning with fresh thermal interface is the right repair.
You can drop the Switch off in Antwerp or Wolvertem, or ship it yourself.
